Spring 2012 update

So the Statesmen record is done and ready for your ears. It’s posted HERE We will be playing four shows with Los Lobos in early April and doing a CD release party on April 26th at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. Other shows are being added as well. In May I will be traveling to Hong Kong for a couple of shows (details will be posted soon) with Doug Wamble. We will be performing as a duo. If you happen to be reading this in Hong Kong (that’s awesome) please stay tuned as I don’t make over that way too often. Lastly, my new record, “Little Known Cure” is finished and at the manufacturing plant as we speak. All of you that contributed to this album should expect to hear from me in the very near future as there will be some packages coming your way very soon! I expect to release this album in June of 2012. I look forward to seeing you all at a show. Jonah

Tuesday, Oct 11th The Statesmen will be playing at Bowery Electric in NYC. Doors at 7PM. Wolf! at 8:30, we hit at 9:30 and the legendary Bernie Worrell plays at 10:30. All for seven bucks. You betta!

Also, Oct 21st, 2011 The Jonah Smith band will return to the 55 bar. It’s the hang, ya’ll. See you around. js

The New Recording Fund

The time has come to make a new album. As a truly independent artist I have two options available to me: make a cheap bedroom album that might have some charm but wouldn’t live up to my previous efforts and what my fans expect of me…or pony up the bucks and go into a real studio to record. Well that is what I’ve decided to do. On June 6th production of my new record begins at Mission Sound in Brooklyn, NY. We will be recording live in great room through a vintage Neve mixing console.
